This is the kind of movie I like. Don't have too many words, don't have too many visual effects and don't have too many complicated actions. They just use a simple action--- kiss to show how romantic Paris is. This is my film. Also the music fits the scene so well. Because it is a romantic movie, so the slow, Bosa Nova kinds music is so great. This combination makes the simple movie show all about Paris.
Although very short, this film was done very well. It didn't have too much dialogue, but it didn't need to rely on that too much, the music and great shots are what made this film something special. The cinematography was wonderful. The scenes of the couple kissing in different parts of Paris was fantastic. They used all sorts of angles, the one where they were kissing and the sun was in between them was my favorite one. Along with the romantic score, the cinematography of this film made it a complete success.
This was an intriguing film. It had minimal dialogue, but it conveyed a lot of emotion through the work of the camera. There were virtually no shots that were completely stationary and steady, but instead there was a bit of sway or movement which went very well with the free-spirited nature of the story. The lighting was excellent, particularly in the last scene where they are switching between being silhouetted and having the lights shine on them from above. Also, one other shot that particularly drew my interest was one of the opening shots, of the girl's face, where it starts out focused on her earbuds, then pulls focus to her eyes. It is then revealed in the following shot that we were looking through the lens of the young man's camera phone. Additionally, the use of music helped convey the emotion of this short tremendously. The romantic main music track continued throughout the entire short, regardless of whatever other music or noise was audible at the different locations. One of my other favorite moments with the sound design was when it suddenly changed in quality as the guy pulled out his earbud near the beginning of the short, then slowly faded back in after the dialogue was over.
I thought this film was beautifully done. It was very artistic without a lot of dialogue. It was different than the typical love story because of the shots and aesthetics. I really liked the many different angles used to tell the story and the background music fit perfectly.
Very nice film. Wasn't to flashy with alot of dialoge but what was said brought out the story. Beautiful shots, just awesome! The actors were good but the story really just focused on the world around them almost. very good, highly enjoyed it!
The beginning of this short was very clever. I really liked how the music played and right when he took out his earphone you could hear how the music was actually coming from him. Usually when I talk to people about Europe, they say Paris is dirty, but somehow Yvan Attal was able to capture those scenes and the most beautiful ones as well. It confused me that they were speaking English when it was extremely evident that they were not from the United States. I really would have liked it if they spoke French because I could only pay attention to their accents. Either way, I feel this short could have shown more scenes of Paris since it’s an advertisement, but that’s just my opinion.
I really loved the visual shots in this. The shots really brought the story more to life. There wasn't too much dialogue. There was just enough to help the film tell the story even better. Overall the thing that impressed me the most were the shots and coloring.
Great film. Cinema is at its best when is successfully conveys and evokes emotion, and this is where Kisses from Paris succeeds. In spite of its length and lack of dialogue, the beautiful setting of paris and music really make it all work.
I think the sound design may be the best part of this film. The music sets the mood quite well, and every little sound, from the rustling of a bird’s wings as it flies away to laughter on a bus, adds something. The best moment may have been where the sound adjusts as male lead removes a headphone, very inventive.
Also, I wish phones could actually produce the sort of shot we saw in the phone POV.
I thought Kisses from Paris was a cute and entertaining short. The POV shots of the city were my favorite part. I thought the shots captured the city very well, and created beautiful scenes for the short. I liked the camera movement on the bus scene, as well as the back-focus in one of the kissing scenes. Shots like these made feel that the city was a character in the film. Overall, I enjoyed the film, and I think it was a very successful tourism commercial for Paris.
The soundtrack and vivid scenes create this love story. I am going to guess that the video is about an American girl that fell in love with a Parisian guy. They are reminiscting on their vacation or their time together in Paris.
The shots are bright and vivid, and involve the two making out. The coolest shot that I found was when the couple was kissing in front of the subway platform. When the train doors opened the expressions on the rider's faces was priceless.
This was not my favorite short film, but it certainly was not my worst. I would have to put it right in the middle.
