This is a cool movie. The accent makes me cannot understand the full scripts. But there are two quotes I like the best."I fokin hate this game" and "God is a good guy". The first quote shows the girl's helplessness. She hates the situation she is in the wheelchair and live in the world like that poor. Second quote makes the film looks like goes to a extreme. A extremely naive world. The adult plays like child as a role. and said "God is a good guy." They both hoped God could forgive they killed people and robbed. But I did not understand the ending. Did they both kill by someone else like them?
This short was really weird to me because of how random it was and the explicit dialogue used. It was really funny how they wore suits the whole time and I could immediately recognize the gloomy bear suit the female was wearing. Because this story was random, there's nothing I thought Korine could have done better. The story was really unique and I also liked the beats that were used. The end confused me a bit because there was no validation as to who shot who/what. I guess that's for the audience to come up with how the story actually ended.
Right when I heard the female speak I thought she was putting on a fake accent. It was until the male said, "Good morning South Africa!" that I realized they did not live in the United States. I liked being able to watch something that was not based in America yet English was still used. I also liked how the characters would speak in their native language and there would be subtitles. Languages really interest me and being able to watch a short that was based in South Africa was cool.
Another thing is that I really liked the male main character. He reminds me of a guy I know from France; always trying to rap and trying to be a "gangsta". The female cussed way too much and looks a bit freaky, but I guess that was the point since the story was freaky as well.
Usually when I watch a short like this one, I will say something nice like "it fits its type of style and niche genre", but I don't even know what this film's genre was. The website says it's an experimental about nothing, what the hell is that? This film was so dumb, it made clerks look fantastic. I say clerks because I can kind of compare the two films seeing that they both use dark humor. The only part of this movie I found somewhat entertaining was when the man in the yellow sleeping bag onesy rapped about a bong that resembles a penis, that was pretty humorous. But other than that, I just didn't get it. If all I have to do is film myself with my friend riding around in wheelchairs taking hits out of ginormous joints in order to win an award then that is what I'm going to do.
This was a really strange short film. There wasn't really a plot of any kind, and the different scenes just seemed to jump around randomly. The music in the film was by far the most interesting part of it for me, because besides the musical montages and background music, the rest of the short wasn't really that interesting. Some films work well with little direction or plot development, but this was not one of them. I never felt like I knew what was going on, and none of it made much sense to me.
Wow, this short just blew my mind. Makes me wonder what the hell the creator was on. It cracked me up the whole time. It was definitely creative and super strange and random. Even though i didn't know what was going on the whole time, I think that is the best part and I dig it. It looks cool too.
Yea was the creator high? wow, for the first time this semester I almost exited out before the end, but I stuck it out. I'm glad I did now because the although the ending was confuseing it sparks the whole God and morality question. She said God is a good guy. She said it like a child would say it. maybe thats what the director was going for. Although they commited horrible crimes the director was going for a child like look for the two of them. Overall it wasn't impressive, just wasn't a fun watch.
Well let's just say this isn't a short that I would be showing my Grandma. This film was very...different, but for some reason I couldn't help but crack up at parts. I honestly have no idea what was going on throughout 90% of this film. It made on sense whatsoever. This is definitely one of those films I would appreciate more if I was drunk or high.
Being previously familiar with some of Die Antwoord’s work, I found this film particularly amusing. It’s essentially the story of a pair of South African rappers striving to be ‘taken seriously’ while riding around in wheelchairs and carrying machine guns. The cinematography is interesting overall, jump cuts are used frequently. I found the costume/set design to be particularly good. There’s something about those electric wheelchairs at the end that’s incredibly compelling.
Everything about this film is completely absurd. The plot, the acting, the imagery, and yet, somehow, it works. Who knew wheelchairs could be so cool?
The film opens with two Tellitubies in wheel chairs! It seems that there are two main characters that are homeless, yet are able to buy guns and plenty of ammo. They speak another language, and have a British accent. It seems that the whole premise of this short is about two deranged people riding around in wheel chairs, and for survival they kill.
If I were to have watched this movie for fun, I would have quit after the first minute. This is just not my kind of film.
